Privacy International and Women on Web: Research on How Reproductive Justice Advocates Approach Privacy

by Privacy International and Women on Web

To understand the nature of the privacy threats reproductive health organizations face during their work and the measures they are taking to address these, we have started a research project in which we encourage reproductive and abortion justice activists to join.

This research includes our survey which is to be completed by anyone who works individually or as part of an organisation to provide reproductive and sexual health information and services. We are seeking information regarding the technology (tools, devices, platforms) you/your respective organisation use. As well as the technology/platforms of communication and technology used to contact individuals.

Your input will help us to map out key risk areas, as well as to understand your perception and experience of security and privacy more generally. Based on your contribution, we hope to develop education and informative materials to help reproductive and abortion justice activists and organisations to to be informed about the risks they may be exposed to, and some measures they can take to mitigate them to better protect themselves and the people they work with online.

The questions are divided into different sections including "internal communications" (which concerns communication between staff and others you may work with) and "external communications" and activities (which concerns communication with external individuals such as those seeking care and the public). There is final section on "context" to assess the context of operation (hostile, feel safe, etc.) and also on the questions about perceptions of threats and risk.

Learn more and complete the survey here.
